Design, Manufacturing, And Precision Installation For Secure Precast Construction

Carolina Precast manages the full lifecycle for precast building and secure enclosure projects — from initial engineering to completed facility handoff.

We do not subcontract our core services or hand projects between disconnected teams. From engineers to installers, we work together to deliver outstanding results.

Our services are built around three capabilities: design and engineering, manufacturing, and precision installation.

Design And Engineering

Every Carolina Precast project begins with a direct collaboration between our engineering team and your architects, project managers, and security consultants. Each enclosure is designed against the specific security rating, dimensional, and compliance requirements your project demands.

What Happens at This Stage

Our engineers define enclosure geometry, panel dimensions, connection details, insulation specifications, and security rating targets. For projects requiring UL burglary-resistance ratings, GSA security specifications, DEA vault compliance, or DOE material handling standards, the applicable regulatory requirements are built into the design from the start.

If your project involves a vault expansion within an existing structure, the design phase includes a site assessment to evaluate structural compatibility, access constraints, and integration points before any panels are produced.

What You Receive

  • PE-stamped structural calculations and engineering drawings specific to your enclosure
  • Security rating and compliance specifications documented at the design stage
  • Connection details for all mechanical and welded joints
  • Insulation specifications with thermal and regulatory variance compliance where applicable
  • Site assessment documentation for vault expansion projects
  • A defined project schedule from manufacturing through installation

Manufacturing

Every panel ships to your site pre-engineered, inspected, and ready for assembly.

Quality Management

Our manufacturing operates under a quality management system structured to meet PCI plant certification requirements, with a documented Quality Systems Manual governing every stage from material handling through final inspection.

Panels are produced against the project-specific engineering drawings developed during the design phase. Each panel is inspected before shipment against dimensional tolerances, material specifications, and security rating requirements.

Capabilities

Carolina Precast specializes in precast concrete for small-to-mid-sized buildings and secure structures. Our production capacity is dedicated to four product lines: structural precast concrete wall panels for building systems, SecurCast rated secure enclosures, preassembled armories, and earth-covered magazines. We do not spread manufacturing resources across parking structures, high-rise components, or commodity precast.

Our facility produces panels engineered for mechanical and welded connections, integrated insulation systems, and architectural finishes including form finish, chamfers, and bullnoses. For rated work, SecurCast pairs these panels with UL-rated and GSA-approved vault products, so the rating is designed in from the start rather than added afterward.

Precision Installation

On-site assembly is where engineering and manufacturing converge into a finished, rated enclosure. Carolina Precast handles installation with our own crews, maintaining continuity from the team that designed and produced your panels through the team that assembles them on your site.

Connection Systems

Every panel-to-panel connection uses mechanical and welded systems engineered for structural integrity and security continuity. Grouted connections are applied as a finishing step after mechanical and welded connections are completed.

Installation Timeline

Precast panel construction compresses on-site timelines significantly compared to conventional built-in-place methods. Panels arrive pre-engineered and pre-inspected, so site work focuses on assembly and connection instead of forming, pouring, and curing.  Depending on the project, build timelines collapse from weeks or months to hours or days.

Verification and Handoff

Once the enclosure is assembled, Carolina Precast verifies the completed structure against the project’s security rating and compliance specifications before handoff. This is not a courtesy walkthrough — it is a documented verification against the engineering drawings and rating requirements established during the design phase.

At handoff, your project team receives as-built drawings, quality records, and compliance documentation for your facility’s files. The same standards that governed panel production govern the finished enclosure you accept.

What We Do Not Do

Carolina Precast is a specialized precast manufacturer. We do not provide masonry or general concrete services. We do not manufacture tilt-up panels, hollow core planks, utility precast, or ICFs. We do not pursue large-scale infrastructure including parking garages, stadiums, high-rise construction, dormitories, or water treatment facilities.

We manufacture structural precast wall panels for small-to-mid-sized buildings, SecurCast rated secure enclosures, preassembled armories, and earth-covered magazines.

Frequently Asked Questions

1Does Carolina Precast handle design, manufacturing, and installation, or do I need separate contractors?
Carolina Precast manages all three stages in-house. Your project is handled by one team from engineering through facility handoff. That gives you one source of accountability. This continuity means the engineers who design your enclosure are coordinating directly with the manufacturing floor and the installation crew.
2What quality standards govern your manufacturing?
Our manufacturing operates under a quality management system structured to meet PCI plant certification requirements, with a documented Quality Systems Manual.
3Why do you use mechanical and welded connections instead of grouted connections?
Mechanical and welded connections provide structural integrity and security continuity at every panel joint. Grouted connections are applied as a finishing step after the structural connections are in place — they seal and finish the joint, but the enclosure’s structural performance does not depend on them. This approach eliminates the exploitable seams that can occur in assemblies that rely on grout or bolted connections for structural performance.
4How long does a typical project take from design through installation?
Timelines depend on enclosure size, security rating complexity, and site conditions. Our engineering team provides a detailed project schedule during the design phase. In general, precast panel construction compresses on-site work significantly compared to conventional built-in-place vault construction — panels arrive pre-engineered and inspected, so site work focuses on assembly rather than forming, pouring, and curing.
5Can you install within an existing building for a vault expansion?
Yes. Vault expansion projects begin with a site assessment during the design phase to evaluate structural compatibility, access constraints, and security rating requirements. Panels are manufactured to fit the specific dimensions of your expansion and installed using the same mechanical and welded connections we use in new construction. The result performs to the same rating as a ground-up build.
6What does the project handoff include?
At project completion, you receive as-built drawings, quality records, and compliance documentation. The completed enclosure is verified against your project’s security rating and compliance specifications before we hand it off. These records are prepared for your facility’s compliance files and are suitable for review by federal inspectors and facility auditors.
